My Beginnings in the World of Real Estate!

Hello Ladies and Gents of the Real Estate World!

My name is Keith and I created this blog to discuss, empower, uplift and encourage others to share their views and knowledge in this industry and to ALWAYS pay it Forward.

A little bit about me: I was working in the social services field with a non-profit organization in Topeka Kansas, (IBSA) helping them network their list of services to clients and other organizations who provided similar services In Kansas City, Missouri. I was doing that for 2 years before budget cuts forced me out of work. I decided to seek out my desire to do real estate as a career.

I met a guy who told me to train under someone he worked with before, so I can get my feet wet in the industry. Man, was that an experience...(tell you about that later)

So I started in 2002 as a loan originator working for this guy, who didn't teach me anything about the business at all. He was too busy stuffing his pockets with loot, to show me anything. He also made it clear, that anyone who is occupying a desk in his office, and they were not closing loans, that they would be fired immediately. Guess who got Fired???

So I moved on and was determined to learn the business or go crazy! I was not going to let that slight setback keep me from learning and earning in this business. I said to myself, Keith you have read too many real estate books to let this sidetrack you now.

So I dusted myself off and went back to speak with the guy who sent me to meet the former employer in the first place.

Once I started telling him what had happened, he laughed and said, he knew that was going to happen. He stated that he knew the guy didn't have any patience with teaching new people the business, but he wanted to see how resilient I was. (WTH)

So he took me in and showed me day by day how to originate loans. It was rough the first couple months, being green he would say. But over a 6-7 month period, I picked up fast how to originate and to close loans weekly.

I worked in his office for 3 years, then I decided to move on to try and originate and close my own loans in my own office. It was terrible that first month, so I joined up with a partner, and also took a part time job at a grocery store to make ends meet. That only lasted for 2 months and I was so frustrated with the income I was making, so I decided to go back to real estate full time.

I got a call from the guy who trained me and he stated that if I ever want to come back to his office, that the door was still open. So opportunity was knocking, so I took it and went back to the place I learned the business.

My first few months back, I had some pretty good paydays. Then that summer hit, and Man, my income started rising and rising significantly. I was doing better than I ever had, and my confidence was growing fast.

I had 3 months where I was grossing almost 20k a month. I was on top of the world.

Then my mother got hurt, and I had to leave Kansas City to move back to Topeka to help take care of her.

It happened at a good time, because the mortgage collapse was just around the corner. (4 months later)

Let me tell you, it was hard adjusting to making $400-$500 every two weeks, when I was doing over $3500.00 to $4200.00 a month...(Yikes)

While I was taking care of mom, I started learning online about social media and its applications and how it will be the new game changing thing to do for local businesses, as well as real estate.

Still keeping my ears and eyes open to what is going on in the real estate market, even though I was not in it for 7 years.

So it is now 2015, and I have decided to get back into real estate with full guns Blazing!

So I am Ready, Willing and Able to work with a team of Like-Minded Thinkers, and Doers as we try to help and educate as many people who are in dire need of assistance.

The Time is NOW, as the local communities across the country are looking for heroes in this industry to stand up and fight for their rights as homeowners!!!

This is your friendly neighborly Loan Originator signing off...

God Bless you...

Keith Mac
